14TH MEDICAL GROUP (MDG)
The primary mission of the 14th Medical Group is two-fold: one, to provide medical support for combat forces and ensure medical readiness in support of national defense and two, provide, promote, and maintain high quality, accessible and cost effective health care.

Our focus is always the health and welfare of our patients and the Columbus community we serve. Our philosophy is one of service. We are dedicated to serve you in meeting your health care needs. We want a friendly and compassionate atmosphere for you to receive medical care. We believe in an atmosphere where the dignity and respect of each patient is maintained. In this regard, we hope your visit to our clinic will be as pleasant as possible.

If this is your first visit to the 14th Medical Group, some of our routines may seem different to you. You may wonder why, or if all of these procedures are necessary. We assure you they are, and they have been established to help you receive maximum benefit from your visit. You deserve to know what services are available and how to obtain these services when needed.

It is my hope that this information will provide you useful information on the services available and how to access them, as well as answer any questions you may have during your visit.

Services:
Booking of acute, routine, and wellness appointments for Family Practice, Optometry, and Flight Medicine.

Important Information:
All patients are asked to arrive 5 minutes prior to their appointment time. Please call 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

Other Information:
Same Day care needs include onset of symptoms unresponsive to home remedies or over the counter medications, such as nausea and vomiting, cough, sinus conditions, fevers minor injuries etc. Non-acute chronic medical conditions or medication renewals do not qualify for same-day care.

Clinic staff will assess each caller's needs and determine if a same day appointment is required. If your symptoms are determined to be of an urgent or emergency nature you will be referred to the nearest Emergency Room. For minor symptoms, self-care advice is often given to save an unnecessary clinic visit. If your symptoms are not acute, but need to be evaluated at a later time a routine appointment within 7 days will be offered.

24 Hour access to medical advice or assistance

Services:
A medical provider is on-call 24 hours a day to provide advice or assistance after hours, nights, weekends and holidays. Except for true emergencies (life, limb or sight in jeopardy) contact the provider on-call for assistance prior to going to a local emergency room for care. For emergencies call: 911

Other information:
When calling 434-CARE after hours your call will be transferred to our answering service. Be prepared to give the operator the patient's name, sponsor's social security number and a number where you can be reached. The operator will contact the provider and pass on the information. The provider will return your call within 20 minutes.
